About GCCAI

We help girls connect with opportunity.

Girl Child Care Advancement Initiative (GCCAI) is a Nigerian nonprofit founded in 2018 by Oiza Alonge. We exist because girls in Nigeria face financial, social and cultural barriers that boys often do not, and those barriers decide too much about how their lives turn out.

Our story

GCCAI started with a simple observation: many girls have the talent and the drive, but not the fees, the books, the guidance or the safety to use them.

From 2018 we visited schools and communities in Abuja, ran the Illuminate seminar, supported girls with school costs and learning materials, and spoke up about issues that harm girls, including sexual and gender-based violence.

In October 2026 we restarted GCCAI with a clear aim: build an organisation that lasts, with a small number of programmes that measurably help girls.

What we believe

Agency, not charity

Our question is not "how do we help girls?" It is "what has to be true for a girl to have more say over what she becomes?" That means school access, information, skills, safe relationships and people who open doors.

Dignity in every story

We never reduce girls to hardship. We tell stories with consent, protect privacy, and do not publish personal details of minors.

Evidence over noise

We measure what changes for girls, not only what we did. When we only know activity, we report activity.

Rooted in Nigeria

We use Nigerian data and work with Nigerian schools, communities and partners. Solutions should fit the places where girls live.

Our values

Respect

For girls, families and communities, and for every girl's right to choose.

Integrity

Honest numbers, honest stories, careful use of every naira.

Discipline

We finish what we start and keep the promises we make.

Drive

We keep going until the barrier in front of a girl moves.
